Blogging Tips for Beginners - Blogging experts

If you’re a new blogger, you’re likely to be overwhelmed at first. You’ve probably done a search or two to turn up different tips and tricks. There has probably been a bit of wording or tech lingo that went over your head. Words like “conversion rate” and “monetized content”. Maybe you’re not sure how to build a readership and you don’t understand how SEO content helps you reach more eyes.

Blogging Tips for Beginners

It’s not easy getting started in a new field. Especially if you don’t know much about what you’re doing. But, the moral is, you’ve taken the first step. So at least you can be proud of that!

Now the next steps aren’t exactly easy. It’s easy enough to put together a blog, and pick the colors. It may be easy enough to put the link to your blog all over social media. But it’s a bit more difficult to create quality content that reaches a broader audience and helps you get regular readers. These regular readers may become customers or income streams later on if you decide you want to make money blogging.

10 Blogging Tips to Keep in Mind

Here are 10 good blogging tips for beginners.

1. There is no “right” way to blog

You can do this a number of different ways and end up with many different results. Everything in the blogging world depends on how you do things. It doesn’t depend on what things you do. There is also no set direct or path. You can do one thing, then do another. You don’t have to follow instructions. Nothing has to be done in a specific order.

2. Pace yourself

You have to take your time. You have to make sure, every step of the way, that you’re ready to move on to the next step. It’s an important part of having a great blog with great content. You need to be ready.

3. Embrace your inexperience

You may think being a new blogger is unfortunate. You may feel people won’t take your seriously. Toss those ideas out of the door. A person new to blogging also has fresh eyes. That same inexperience could be what initially draws readers to you. Share your inexperience, make jokes about not being sure of what you’re doing. Engage people. Your audience will grow as you do.

4. Don’t be afraid of new territories

Be bold, brave, and go where no blogger has gone before. Don’t worrying about following along with anyone else. Do your own thing. This will make you stand out against the competition. This will make you unique, which is important when you consider how much stuff is on the internet.

5. Don’t compare yourself to other bloggers

They may have more readers or they took less time to get where you are. But don’t worry about what other people did, or are doing. That won’t help you build a great blog. That will just make you insecure, and lead to second guessing your direction. Everyone goes at a different pace. Find yours, and follow it. You are the captain of this ship. You decide which direction is goes.

6. Write before you launch

Before you actually launch your blog, write a good deal of posts. Somewhere between 10-20 is a good benchmark. This will be a safety net in the future when you feel like you don’t have new ideas. Or, should you lack the time to write for whatever reason. Also, you’ll get a good idea of the niche you’ve chosen. If you struggle to write those first 20 posts, you’re not likely going to be able to keep posting fresh new content. If you struggled, consider choosing a different subject.

7. Be selective when it comes to social media

Social media can be a great way of advertising your blog. But, don’t try and do too many. There’s a wide variety of social media websites, sure, but choose to focus on one or two. This will give you better quality posts. You want quality over quantity no matter what. When you get busier, you’ll need to devote your time to blogging. You won’t want to have to use too many social media accounts. Facebook and Twitter are the more recommended for keeping your readers updated, and growing your readership.

8. Connect with other people

This is an important part of growing your readership. Go to other blogs and share your thoughts on their posts. Go to forums and give suggestions and answers. Don’t promote your blog excessively, because no one appreciates spam. A casual link drop here and there is pretty good enough. You’re not trying to force people to visit your website. You’re trying to encourage them to check you out. So share your opinions and comments, talk to other people, and network.

9. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes

Since you’re just getting started, it’s only natural you’re going to make mistakes. Some of the most common beginner mistakes involve excessive link building. Or posting too many entries in a short period of time. Sometimes it’s about the type of advertising (like misuse of Google AdSense) or the layout not being ideal. But don’t worry too much about that right now. Mistakes are bound to be made. You need to focus on the quality your content.

10. Keep going

The best advice you can be given is to just keep pushing. You may feel discouraged that no one is reading your posts at first. Push past those feelings and keep posting new content. The old saying “build and they will come” applies here. If you make a great blog with amazing content, people are bound to find it. Simple enough. When you’re just starting out, don’t make it a point to advertise too much. You want to produce great content first. Then once you’ve got into the groove of writing and posting regularly, you can reach out.
